The Gizeh Pyramid Complex and the Sphinx
The Gizeh Pyramid Complex and the Sphinx

The Sphinx is noticeably older looking and is weathered differently than the three pyramids, and some theories are that it was constructed by people who were as ancient to the Egyptians as they are to us. One controversial theory is it was built before the last Ice Age in Europe, where its original lion sculture was worn down from hundreds of years of torrential rains from the melting ice. A later Pharoah carved his features on the disfigured lion's lump, giving the smallish head an uncharacterically out of proportion look to the carved rock.
